Patty is a 1yr old american staffordshire terrier mix who was left tied up in her building. Later it was found out that her owner had died. Black dogs, especially pitbull mixes have especially hard times getting adopted in shelters, please do not let this dog get overlooked.
Exam Type BEHAVIOR
Patty was excited but very interested in interacting with handler during assessment. She was excited during handling, but showed no aggression. Patty did a lot of jumping up; body checking played tug-of-war with the leash during tag interaction. She showed some concerning behavior during the food bowl test - stiffening and growling, but did not snap at or bite the assess-a-hand. She was not interested in toys or rawhide. Patty rushed in quickly during the dog-dog test, but showed no aggression. Patty is a very active and jumpy dog. She pulls hard on the leash. She needs a significant amount of exercise, mental stimulation and training. The behavior department feels that she can go to an experienced no child home
*This behavior should not be overly concerning or surprising considering she is a 1yr old pup who is confined to a kennel for almost the entire day
