A volunteer writes: Apollo is one of the best known Gods in Greek mythology because his talents were so widespread - he was the God of, well, just about everything! And, as with all Gods he was majestic in appearance as is our four legged Apollo. He is stunningly handsome, clearly well taken care of as his coat is well groomed and clean, his weight perfect for his size and his friendly nature a delight. I couldn't resist his handsome face looking up at me, so I leashed him easily and out we went. As we walked out the door he said hello to each kenneled dog we passed, perhaps assuring them that their turn would be next. He is likely housetrained 'going' as soon as we were out the door. Apollo pulls hard on the leash and will need some training in that area, but has learned to sit on command and shake paw. He takes treats very gently, and posed for his photo session like a professional model. He makes wonderfully soft eye contact and tilts his head in concentration when I make kissy noises at him. His tail never stops wagging at everyone he sees. I love an affectionate dog and Apollo gives the best stand up hugs ever. He is a big mush who loves people. He is playful and sweet and ready to find his forever home. Ask to meet Apollo today.

I am a male white and brown pit bull mix. The shelter thinks I am about 2 YEARS old.
I came in the shelter as a STRAY on 02/24/2013 from NY 10467, owner surrender reason stated was STRAY.
This dog is located at the Manhattan Animal Care&Control (326 E110 St, Manhattan 10029). For more information on a particular dog, email adoption @ nycacc.org (remove the spaces) but ONLY email if you are serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions. Also, have the ID# listed at the top of this post handy when inquiring!! This dog is in danger of being on the euthanasia list and could be scheduled to be killed at any time!
