Jay was immediately ready when I opened his kennel door. I leashed him without fuss and off we went for a walk. Jay is indeed housetrained as related to us by his former master. He marks a little his territory. He heels and can sit on command. It is hard to believe that Jay is 12 years of age. He is peppy, active, in mint shape physically and so well groomed.His eyes are mighty lively. He wears a flawless latte and cream coat and a thick tail that he waves happily on our walk. Jay was clearly content to be with me, a perfect stranger and had a great lap time before to terminate our session together. Jay did not mind another volunteer coming to say high to us and petting him....I carried him in my arms, kissed him on the head... Jay seemed to like it...Jay was owned his whole life by the same owners.It might be that older age and family changes affected Jay in a negative way and what he very well needs right now is a change too, a calmer life to spend his golden years, labeled this time by his new owner as a ...good little dog.
Jay has lived with cats and children. According to his previous family he barks at other dogs. Jay is paper trained. Jay's behavior is so exceptional ACC is using him as a helper dog to assist in evaluating dog-dog behavior for other dogs at the shelter.

Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions. Also, have the ID# listed at the top of this post handy when inquiring!! This dog is in danger of being on the euthanasia list and could be scheduled to be killed at any time! If you cannot adopt foster ! Fostering is free and does not have to be pernament it can be short term but will save a life ..contact a rescue group from the link above for more info about fostering
