A volunteer writes: It's hard to ignore a beautiful dog who sits quietly but clearly is ready to go for a walk. And thus began my friendship with Cookie. She's my golden oreo in her tan coat, big amber eyes and a smile a mile wide. Her teeth are clean, her coat is groomed, her weight is perfect; this is a dog who was loved and well taken care of before being surrendered into our care. Cookie has had a hard time adjusting to being without the person she has always loved, but is slowly coming around and is willing to make new friends. We are told that she is housetrained, barks when she sees other dogs but plays when close, ignores cats and barks at strangers, but when told 'nice' she calms. She knows 'sit', 'down', 'stay', 'shake' and 'go to sleep'. She did sit when I asked her to and gave me her paw to shake. Cookie is just starting to find herself again, and is looking for a new person to love. She's an awesome little girl, loyal and loving who needs a person who will understand that it may take a while for Cookie to give of herself completely. She is loved by volunteers and staff and is so worth the effort. Meet our Cookie girl today. A volunteer writes: Cookie's owner was devastated, parting from his beautiful dog, leaving her with us at the care center. He confided in a staff how much he loved her, how special she was and how deeply he wished Cookie could land in a loving home and with a wonderful family. Having spent some time with Cookie, I feel for her and her master and I understand how deep the bond must have been between the two of them. Cookie was beautifully taken care of. She is healthy looking and gorgeous in her perfectly groomed latte coat. She is young, elegant, feminine, a beauty with a presence. Her eyes are eloquent, her manners soft, warm, cozy. She has a way to abandon herself, nonchalantly, leaning comfortably against my body or the one of a willing caretaker. Although reserved and at times a little wary, Cookie loves to be with people. She relished caresses and kisses. She loves to rest her head against my chest. Cookie walks well on the leash and seems very much housetrained. She does not mind other dogs met on the way. She is obedient, sits on command and for treats. She poses with a smile for the photo session. She can even give a paw shake. Cookie was her master's princess. I can understand. She is gorgeous, well mannered, affectionate and will make a new owner very blessed.
