A volunteer writes:
" A representative of the nanny breed..He looks like Sergent Stubby, the most decorated canine war hero of WWI... He loves everyone...." Tears came to my eyes as I read Buster's owner comments written in so many details about his dog...a most beloved and respected companion left sadly into our care as his family was evicted. Buster lived, played with and watched a host of infants and toddlers. He was gentle with the elderly, friendly to strangers and tolerant of well behaved dogs. A very obedient , playful and well mannered pet with no handling issues or destructive tendencies and who had a role, a job and a status among his loved ones.. I spotted Buster right away as I arrived at the care center. A small chap with a greying muzzle and sharp brown eyes. A compact body wrapped in a perfectly groomed coat. A tough look trying to save the appearances . I was a king in my home..I am now in a kennel... but I am not a number...I am Buster. Buster acts a bit macho . He is a little guy with a big head. Still, he is lost and tries to tough it up, marks his territory, does not take my treats at first, then changes his mind and takes them with a "long face". He walks tail high and meets other dogs with a stance , some pulling but no antagonistic behavior. Buster is no mouse even if he is quite small in appearance. He can sit on command and does come when called now that after a little while spent together...we have become friends. Buster has a lot of character. He is like a well learned, opinionated, determined and spirited human, a doer and a leader who will nevertheless be smart enough to submit to the genuine owner who will be his master . If Buster does not make it back to his family, I so hope that soon enough, he will find his way to a new kingdom and bless his new people with his wonderful personality.
Another volunteer writes:
There's nothing like a walk with a handsome brindle butterball to start my day off right! Tail wagging and looking anxious to go out, Buster was my first walk of my day and he's perfect! A gentle dog, good on the leash, enjoying some treats, posing for some pictures, and taking care of his business the moment we were outside. He seems to love other dogs, his tail wagging a mile a minute as others approach. Having enjoyed the benefits of a home before losing it, Buster comes with outstanding comments from his former family, and after spending time with him I can see why. He's a great little dog who needs a new family to "hang out" with. Lucky will be the family that makes him theirs. Be sure to meet him when you visit.
