A volunteer writes:
"She is wonderful and loving, snugly, a lapdog, good to everybody, playful and obedient." Sounds idyllic, right? The very words of the short time owner who welcomed Princess and her sister, after a family member ran into trouble. Sadly, because of costs and her new master's health, Princess finds herself homeless. Princess has been beautifully cared for. She looks healthy, is the perfect weight, wears a well groomed fawn coat and even eat dry food. Her dark amber eyes are still crystal clear and contrast with her greying muzzle. She has calm and gentle manners even that she is quite lost, finding herself in a kennel, away from home and her loved ones.Princess walks nicely and peacefully on the leash. She eliminates in one stop. We met other dogs at our second walk. Princess was cool with them. She can sit on command and takes treats in the most polite way from my hand. She comes immediately when called and sits with poise by my side for caresses.I love what i see when I spend time with Princess and looking at what her former family has to say about her, makes me want to have a dog like her in my home. "Gentle with children and the elderly, nice with strangers and other dogs, loves to play with toys, housetrained, a jogger." All that is music to my ears. I hope that soon enough, gentle, lovely and well mannered Princess will find her castle and her place in your heart, as your forever , loving and loyal best friend. Princess is at the Manhattan Care Center, waiting patiently for you.

I love the seniors... their dignity, their soft and unassuming manners, their happiness at all interactions... and Princess is no exception. After hearing about her from other volunteers I made a point of spending time with her, and I'm here to tell you she is indeed a perfect princess. Great on the leash, housetrained, quietly affectionate, easy, gentle, calm... I fell in love with her softly graying muzzle and alert, sweet amber eyes. Her tail wags gently as we snuggle. Our behavior team thinks she's pretty rock star too, awarding her an Average rating for her awesome good manners in everything. Add in the amazing comments made by her former family and you know that Princess is indeed worthy of an amazing home. Let's make it happen, shall we?

You may also contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions. Also, have the ID# and shelter location listed at the top of this post handy when inquiring!! This dog is in danger of being on the euthanasia list and could be scheduled to be killed at any time! If you cannot adopt foster ! Fostering is free and does not have to be pernament it can be short term but will save a life ..contact a rescue group from the link above for more info about fostering
From The ACC site: To help ensure successful adoptions, please fill out a pre-adoption application (http://www.nycacc.org/pdfs/adoptions/AdoptionApplication.pdf) and bring it with you when you come into the Care Center to adopt a pet. If you are coming from outside of the immediately area, it is strongly suggest that you first complete an application and email it to adoption @ nycacc.org -This will allow ACC to answer any questions and resolve any potential obstacles before you make the trip.
