Eight year old Jones was released into our care as his owner does not have time for a pet anymore....He was a family pet all his life, not a backyard dog and lived with children.Jones comes in with glowing recommendations. He would get along with other dogs and be very sociable with strangers and kids. He is housetrained(which we verified), walks nicely on the leash(we verified that too) and knows a number of commands. According to his former master, Jones would be very affectionate and loves to be around people. Jones is a beautiful and large Labrador Retriever. He is healthy looking(he has a small soft growth above one ear) and has a very nice and well groomed dark coat. He is definitively not overweight like most Labs we can see in the city. Jones is unhappy in his kennel. He wants to be out. He was used to a whole apartment and does not like to be confined. He is an excellent walker, heeling right by my side. He meets other dogs in a very civil way. He loves to be petted and talked to on the way and looks at me with such 'good' eyes.Jones can sit and stay on command and comes when called. He settles at my feet for an extensive petting session. Jones loves the attention. He is truly a good dog ! Jones should not be with us(although we like him very much) but in a home , laying on a rug, in the living room and watching with devotion his family, his heart at peace and content... a big smile on his face... This is the picture you will get if you choose to take into your home gorgeous and gentle Jones. Please, open your heart to this wonderful dog.

For more information on a particular dog, email adoption @ nycacc.org (remove the spaces) but ONLY email if you are serious about adopting, and ONLY if you are able to GO TO the shelter in-person. Please do not email for status updates... the only thing you will accomplish is spamming their in boxes and causing REAL adopter emails to go un-noticed. Contact the NYC ACC at (212) 788-4000 for further automated instructions. Also, have the ID# listed at the top of this post handy when inquiring!! This dog is in danger of being on the euthanasia list and could be scheduled to be killed at any time! If you absolutely cannot get to the shelter, please contact participating rescue groups listed toward the bottom of the link to see if they can assist you:
